Description: tech·no noir (tek-no nwär) adj. Techno Noir (or tech-noir) is the state in which technology has advanced in all facets except for outward appearance. Examples would be a more advanced train system but the subway cars and subway stations are still dark and gritty, advanced computers that are connected to type-writers for input, using old phones instead of cell phones, and characters using an old-fashioned gun. In a sense, it is a society in which the popular style mimics the '30s or '40s, but they are living anachronistically with advanced technology.
     The main characters can range from detectives to rebels or gun-toting cowboy-esque personas. They have a classic vintage appearence, either wearing trenchcoats or fedoras, and are cool and charasmatic with a sardonic sense of humor. They live in a dysatopic world in which they often mistrust the government or establishment.
